Pegli

Pegli is a quarter situated in the western suburbs of Genoa. It is also known as the "city with two springs" because of its particularly mild climate, in every season of the year. These favorable conditions and the beauty of its position make it a calm and sweet place of the coast. The old village extends on all the coastal road until the "Palazzo del Papa". It is characteristic the small black rock that stands 200 meters from the coast, called Pra Pulla. On the hills of Pegli there is a remarkable presence of villas constructed between the 16th and the 19th century: among these the Villa Durazzo-Pallavicini, with its botanical Garden and whose palace is seat of the Museum of Archaeology, Villa Rose and Villa Banfi. One of the most valuable villas is the one that the rich banker Adamo Centurione built: the palace, that has the name of Villa Centurione Doria, is seat of the Naval Museum of Pegli.
