The zone of Albissola Marina was already inhabited in prehistoric age, but the birth of the town dates to the end of the 12th or at the beginning of the 13th century. Albissola today is a colourful city, with the historical center with its small squares and the carruggi, the long and sandy beach, the blue sea and the beautiful Passeggiata degli Artisti(promenade of the artists).
The promenade, in fact, is practically an immense mosaic, created by various artists of the place and foregneirs, attracted by the reputation of Albissola as place of production of the ceramics.
In the city, full of crafts shops (mostly pottery) and typical premises, you can visit the church of Nostra Signora della Concordia and the valuable Villa Faraggiana, built in the 18th century, it has a charming garden and is the seat of a small museum.
Moreover Albissola has also a beautiful beach, with a swimming pool; here various sports can be practiced, from the beach volley to the windsurf.
