Alassio

Alassio is one of the most famous holiday resort in Liguria, it is a town between the sea and hills, in a splendid green bay.

In the territory of the city there is the possibility to admire ruins of the roman age and medieval monuments, as the picturesque towers built to defend the city, or the colourful churches, among which we cite the rich church of Sant'Ambrogio, dated to the 11th century.

But Alassio is famous for the Muretto ( low wall )... it is among the most celebrated city monuments, both from the touristic and the artistic point of view; until the Second World War it was a simple wall in the public gardens. Then the wall began to be adorned by tiles. The first tile was placed in 1951 by the American writer Ernest Hemingway, and still today there are many celebrities that leave their sign here.

Obviously in Alassio there is also the sea, where, thanks to the mild climate, you can swim from March to November; the beach of Alassio, with white and fine sand, is considered one of the most beautiful of Liguria.
